Certain games I've played a lot in ports or that have better sequels: Ikaruga, sports games, racing games etc.Let's say I have budget of about $500 here, but would prefer to spend more like $150. I'd prefer not to spend money on hardware but certainly can if it's clearly the best choice (either original hardware or emulation hardware, controllers etc.).I'd favor playing with the original controller or a good reproduction if possible, though it's not a dealbreaker.I'd favor the "original" experience over later changes and HD graphics, unless the changes are clear improvements like fixes. But I'll play almost anything that's solid.

More generally, I like action-adventure games, RPGs, or weird stuff that hasn't gotten ported or gets overlooked.Looking for games that were deeply associated with Dreamcast at the time and seen as reasons to own the system.I want to set up one "Dreamcast" or make a "Dreamcast" group on my Xbox and play through it. I would really like to play a set of great DC games in one place, not mix and match across Xbox, emulation, etc. That said, I'd much rather enjoy just playing the games than deal with endemic hardware issues or poor emulation if those are the alternatives. I want to feel like I'm enjoying the Dreamcast I should have bought in 2001 when I saw one for $50 and made the fateful decision not to buy it. I'm trying to have fun with this as an experience. I've been thinking for awhile that I'd like to either get one used or make a point of sitting down and playing through sort of a "best of" collection. So, the Dreamcast is the only major system I have never personally owned or even played on. *Puts up swirly logo bat signal for the Era Dreamcast community*
